How to use the Library
Getting a Library Card
All residents who live or work in Waterford County are invited to become members of any branch in the County Library network. Members may use their card at any location and access all resources held within the Library system.
Membership applications are available at your local branch. Schedules of fee paying and free membership categories are as follows:
- Adults: Euro 10.00
- Children: Free of Charge
- Young Adults: Free of Charge
- Senior Citizens Over 65: Free of Charge
- Students (Full-Time): Free of Charge

Guidelines and Regulations
- Children and second-level students require the signature of a parent / guardian on the appropriate part of the application form to complete registration.
- All books, cds, and audiobooks may be borrowed for a period of 3 weeks. Items from the dvd collection may be borrowed for one week only. Five items may be issued to a borrower at any one time.
- Patron cards are required for presentation at the issue desk and/or at the self-check system when borrowing items. The replacement cost of a lost patron card is Euro 1.25.
- Items that are returned late are subject to a 5c per day, per item fine. Borrowers are encouraged to renew their loans in person, by telephone or online to avoid charges. Renewal of an item may only take place if it is not requested by another borrower.
- If a borrower knows at time of issue that a loan period greater than two weeks may be required, as in the case of holiday or other circumstance, an extended issue period may be granted on advising staff.
- Lost or damaged items must be paid for and responsible use made of library resources and facilities, including compliance with the Acceptable Use Policy in relation to internet access.
- Internet access is provided free of charge with membership. There is, however, a charge of €2 per Internet session for visitors who do not hold valid membership.
