Internet Access

Using Internet Services

Internet Access is free to all at your local branch library. It is advised that members book a session in advance by contacting your branch location and indicating the time you wish to use of the service.

Internet access is availed of by both adults and children of all ages in public, mixed usage areas of the library. Consequently, responsible use of internet resources is expected at all times, and all persons are urged to assess the appropriateness of content which is open to public view and liable to cause offence to others.

Members can access a range of services, including many that can only be availed of through the library network:

  • Email
  • Online Reference
  • Historic Maps and Newspapers
  • Introductory Online Courses

Acceptable Use Policy

In addition, the following procedures and regulations apply:

  • Membership is required for use of Internet facilities.
  • Users are limited to one session per day.
  • Users must check with library desk before commencing a session, except for those using self-booking system in Dungarvan and Tramore.
  • Computers are re-assigned after 15 minutes if the member who booked it is late.
  • All requests for printing are directed through the library desk.
  • Printing costs .15c per black and white page, and 1.00 euro per colour page.
  • Use of floppy discs or external storage devices is not permitted.
  • Computers are not to be shut down after use.
  • Library facilities may not be used for any purpose that contravenes Irish law.
  • Users may not attempt to modify computer modifications.
  • A maximum of two persons only is permitted at computer points.
  • Users must not deliberately or knowingly access obscene material, or content which would cause offence to others on the grounds of race, creed or sex.

It is not possible for library staff to supervise use or monitor content of sites. Accordingly, it is the responsibility of each user to evaluate the integrity and authority of all information accessed.

Waterford Co. Library is in no way responsible for any content viewed by any person of any age while using internet facilities.
Persons using computer facilities acknowledge and accept this policy. Failure to comply with these and other Regulations may result in users being barred from use of library facilities.
 

Wi-Fi Access

Dungarvan Central Library provides free Wi-Fi for registered members. Sessions of flexible duration are available, and access to the service is provided via library card number. Current library membership is therefore necessary to avail of the service.

  • Use is restricted to Library Members only
  • Membership cards or number must be retained by members
  • Guest bookings are available at a cost of €2 per session

New! Wi-Fi printing services are also available. Documents are collected from the print station at the library desk. Black and White A4 printing costs 15c per page; Colour printing costs €1 per page.
