Kurzweil Readers

Reading Aids

In Tramore and Dungarvan libraries people with visual impairment, or those with dyslexia can make use of the Kurzweil PC.

Kurzweil software enables screens to be read aloud by the PC. This includes Internet pages, as well as word and pdf documents. Many newspapers and some online resources of local interest are available online, and the Kurzweil provides access to a whole range of resources often denied those with a visual or learning impairment.

You can also scan books and documents to increase the page size of printed sources and works. Magnification suites are also available in Dungarvan and ideally suited for newspaper reading.

If you know someone who might benefit from using the Kurzweil or magnification suites, contact the staff at Tramore and Dungarvan libraries.

Don't forget that the library service has a wide selection of large print books as well as talking books on cd and cassette, and these are available from your local branch.
